After unexpected ALDS sweep, the Blue Jays are now World Series favorites.

At the beginning of October, the Blue Jays were in alot of trouble. Local radio shows were pushing the panic button, the local beat reporters suddenly seemed to have turned on the team and it looked like the front office was about to switch into a damage control mode.

How much difference does a few days make ??

A huge difference, is the answer. In a span of just four games. The Toronto Blue Jays, who clinched a playoff spot on the final day of the regular season – are now AL Wild Card game winners and American League Division Series winners.

The Blue Jays showed the baseball world this past week that they are the real deal, after almost an entire season of struggles from the big bats of the Jays – it looks like the Blue Jays we know from last year are back to rock October and path the way to the World Series.

Las Vegas odds makers have made note of the Jays and have adjusted their updated odds.
It’s no surprise that after the Blue Jays display of dominance over the past week – they are now the odds on favorite to win the World Series.

History repeats itself ??

Last year the Blue Jays made it to the post-season for the first time in 22 years. The last time they had made the post-season was in 1993, during their ‘almost-dynasty’ like run that spanned 3 years. The Blue Jays won World Series rings in 1992 and 1993. However, what is most note worthy this year is what happened to the Jays in 1991…

In 1991 the Toronto Blue Jays faced off against the Minnesota Twins in the American League Championship series – the Twins would defeat the Jays in five games and go onto the World Series. Minnesota would defeat Atlanta in the fall classic and win their third world title.

Flash forward to 2015. The Toronto Blue Jays faced off against the Kansas City Royals in the ALCS, the Royals would defeat the Jays in 6 games and would go on to win the World Series.

See the parallel here ??

The last time the Toronto Blue Jays lost an American League Championship series, they returned the next year not only to win one, but two consecutive World Series titles in years immediately following.

Do you believe ??
