Tom Brady and Belichick are two of the best to ever be involved in the game of football. Can they ride another wave into the Superbowl again?
AFC EAST DIVISION WINNERS: -800 (Bovada)
AFC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS: +295 (Bovada)
SUPER BOWL 53 CHAMPIONS: +550 (Bovada)
Team Win Total: O/U 11.5 (Westgate)
Week 1 vs. Texans (-7) Week 9 vs. Green Bay (-6)
Week 2 @ Jacksonville (-2.5) Week 10 @ Tennessee (-3.5)
Week 3 @ Detroit (-4) Week 11 BYE WEEK
Week 4 vs. Miami (-11) Week 12 @ New York (Jets) (-8.5)
Week 5 vs. Indianapolis (-10.5) Week 13 vs. Minnesota (-4.5)
Week 6 vs. Kansas City (-7) Week 14 @ Miami (-6)
Week 7 @ Chicago (-5) Week 15 @ Pittsburgh (+1)
Week 8 @ Buffalo (-4.5) Week 16 vs. Buffalo (-10.5)
Week 17 vs. New York (Jets) (N/A)
The divisional games look like a cake walk. Outside of the Pats annual lose in Miami, 5-1 is logical for conference play. The Texans, Jags, Chiefs, Packers, Titans, Vikes and Steelers should all be tough tests but luckily they snag three of those teams at home.
Key Team Additions and Subtractions
Additions – RB Jeremy Hill, WR Cordarrelle Patterson, T Trent Brown, and DE Adrian Clayborn
Subtractions – RB Dion Lewis, RB Mike Gillislee, WR Danny Amendola, TE Martellus Bennett, T Nate Solder, T Cameron Fleming, DT Alan Branch, LB Shea McClellin, and CB Malcom Butler
Draft – T Isaiah Wynn, RB Sony Michel, CB Duke Dawson, LB Ja’Whaun Bentley, LB Christian Sam, WR Braxton Berrios, QB Danny Etling, CB Keion Crossen, and TE Ryan Izzo
Whether you like it or not Tom Brady is still the best QB1 in the league and maybe all time. When he is on the field this team is still one of the best in the league.
Bill uses his running backs in very specific roles. James White, Rex Buckhead and Sony Michel will all likely carve out different roles throughout the year. White and Michel will most likely get the most carries while Buckhead should see more in the passing game.
Chris Hogan began to emerge as a top WR alongside Brady, his season was cut short but should look to continue that trend again. Once done with suspension, Julian Edelman should regain the #1 spot. Patterson could be a very useful tool for Brady this season and Gronk as long as healthy is the biggest mismatch in the NFL.
Losing Nate Solder will hurt and rookie Wynn for the entire year, but Brady has never needed much time to survey the field and make the big plays. The line should still be middle of the pack in terms of o-line.
Adrian Clayborn should see plenty of play time on the field. The d-line for the Patriots has always been run stoppers. Their pressure comes from exotic blitz and secondary pressure. Trey Flowers, Lawrence Brown, and Malcom Brown will man the front line. Many believe Flowers can be a force on the other side.
Donta Hightower is back from injury as one of the best strongside LB’s in the NFL. With Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts will man the other two spots.
Outside of aging Patrick Chung, this group is strong. Stephone Gilmore showed he could be a lockdown guy again. Jason and Devin McCoutry pairing will be a strong locker room presence and on the field minds. Eric Rowe will need to step up from his poor SuperBowl performance.
Stephen Gostkowski has been one of the best kickers in the league for many years. While new comer Patterson will bring energy to the return game.
The public likes to hate the Patriots, so there is room to find edges from every game. But there isn’t a ton of competition in the AFC let alone the AFC East. This Patriots team looks to have an easier path than usual.
Super Bowl Champs +550
There is a high likelihood this team represents the AFC. If they win the Super Bowl that is money in the bank. But there will almost certainly be a hedge opportunity here.
